GED Study Group

Improve math or writing for placement tests like the GED, Accuplacer, and more. Or, just brush up on the basics for self-improvement.

Basic Writing (Project CARE)

Learn grammar, spelling, and punctuation (from the beginning) in this drop-in study group. Practice writing messages, filling out applications, and much more. Start anytime!

Computer Tutoring

March 5th, 2015, 10:30am to 12:00pm
Work on the computer skills you need to develop with an instructor present to answer questions as needed. Practice using the mouse or typing; search the internet; set-up or use email or Facebook; work on projects using Microsoft Office 2010 products.
Sessions are drop-in, on a first-come first seated basis. Seating is limited, and we encourage you to attend only once a week in order to allow time for others.
Participants are welcome to bring a laptop or tablet from home, in order to practice on their own device.

Lapsit Story Time (16-23 months)

March 6th, 2015, 10:00am to 10:30am
Story Time aims to introduce children to the world of books and reading with fun, interactive experiences in a safe environment. Sessions can run from 30 to 45 minutes and may include stories, rhymes, songs, finger plays, playtime and a simple craft activity.

Please register at 708.795.8000 ex 3088, on our website, or in person at the Youth Services desk. Sign up begins 30 days before event. Enrollment registers you for the whole six week session. Holidays may interfere with some dates.

Open Baby Play

Play is an important part of all areas of development in a wee one. Give your baby the benefits of play in a social environment and network with other parents / caregivers in this relaxed, informal environment. For ages 5 months - 24 months; no registration required.

ESL Beginner Speaking

March 7th, 2015, 10:00am to 12:00pm
Practice makes perfect! This ESL study group is for beginner and intermediate adult learners who want to improve English listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students at a very high level might find personal tutoring more helpful, but everyone is welcome to try the group to see if they like it.

WorkNet presents: Job Searching and Interviewing Skills

Did you know only 20 per cent of the jobs people obtain are through internet-only applications? Increase the likelihood of landing your next job by expanding your job search strategies. Get ready for networking, hiring events, job fairs, job clubs, social media and more. During interviews employers are using behavioral questions to gather information about your communication and problem solving skills. Learn about these behavioral questions and practice your responses to them as well as standard interview questions.
