On the Edge: YA Book Club for Teens

October 30th, 2012, 7:00pm to 8:30pm
Teens (14-18) are invited to participate in a book club of contemporary young adult novels. Books chosen will focus on some of the more difficult topics teens face in their every day lives: relationships, depression, substance abuse, violence, etc. This book club will promote discussions of these issues and how authors have chosen to address them in their novels.

How To Raise A Reader

October 6th, 2012, 1:00pm to 2:00pm
Do you have a child age 5 or younger? Do you wonder how you can raise a strong reader early in the middle of your hectic life? Join us for an informative session on Every Child Ready To Read, the American Library Association’s parent education program. We will show you simple ways to help your little one develop the important pre-reading skills he or she will need when it’s time for school.

This is an adult program, but if you cannot make other accommodations, you are welcome to bring your child, provided you feel they are able to sit for the presentation.
