To our Berwyn Community Members,
Racism and hate have no place in the Berwyn community or in our world. The inequities that cause so much injustice, poverty and suffering must be rectified and as an organization, we are committed to providing an environment that is welcoming, inclusive and equitable. We are disheartened at the recent events that have encompassed our communities and we stand in unity with our staff, neighbors and community partners in working to end racism and inequity.
The Library is a pillar of safety, inclusion, diversity and democracy. The Berwyn Public Library, following the City of Berwyn policies, does not condone behavior that threatens the safety of others, nor does it support bigotry, sexism or racism. We believe in learning and education, creating a welcoming environment, and working with community partners to meet the needs of all of our population. Information is essential for fostering change and acceptance. To that end, we have compiled a list of books, films and other resources to support conversations on race, racism and resistance.
Please know the Berwyn Public Library is here to support you now and always.
In solidarity,
Tammy Sheedy
