Welcome to Our Annual Local Authors’ Festival!

The Berwyn Public Library proudly announces the 2025 Local Authors’ Festival! Join in on a week of writing focused programs for all ages. Discuss your reading selections at Books & Brews, devote time to your own writing at a write-in, make your own book-themed keychain, learn to storyboard manga-style, and make and share recipes from a local authors’ works. The week concludes with our 4th Annual Local Authors Fair on May 3rd, 2025.

Schedule of Festival Events

Word Search Drawing  |  April 1 – May 1 | Central Service Desk
Adults

For ages 18+. Stop by the Central Service Desk in the month of April to grab a literary word search! Complete the word search and turn it in for a chance to win a $10 gift card to The Local Flour Stand Cafe. Drawing for gift cards will be completed on May 2nd.

Sit, Sip & Write |  April 26 12:30 – 2 PM | The Local Flour Stand Cafe
All Ages

Do you need a nudge to write? Will a dedicated time to write spur you on?

Join other writers at The Local Flour Stand Cafe, 6814 Windsor Ave, for some writing time. Expect to spend about 90 minutes on your work. We will end with session with an opportunity to talk with other writers. Registration is encouraged. All ages and genres welcome.

Adult Take & Make: Twine Bookmark | April 28 – May 3 | Central Service Desk
Adults

Celebrate our Local Authors’ Festival by creating your own custom twine bookmark! Stop by the Central Service desk to collect your craft kit to enjoy at home while supplies last.

Teen Take & Make: Origami Bookmark | April 28 – May 3 | Teen Desk
Ages 14-18

Stop by the Teen Room this week to pick up your very own craft kit to enjoy at home, available while supplies last!

Makerspace Monday: DIY Bookmarks | April 28 5:30 – 6:30 PM | Youth Makerspace
Ages 7-10

We like to make it, make it! Stop in for Makerspace Mondays and make a cool creation. Free tickets will be available at the Youth Services desk beginning 30 minutes before the event and will be limited to the first 12 participants. Any person requesting a ticket must be present to receive one. Due to high demand, no holds and only one ticket will be given to each person.

Local Authors’ Fair Craft – Book-Themed Keychain | April 29 12:30 – 1:30 PM; 6:30 – 7:30 PM | Community Room
Adults

Create a book-themed keychain craft! We have the materials for you to create your own keepsake while supplies last- you supply the imagination.

Anime Art: Super Storyboarding | April 30 5:30 – 7 PM | Community Room
Ages 10-18

Join Teen Assistant Julia as she teaches about the fundamentals and more of creating storyboards for manga and anime. At the end of the program, you’ll have made your very own unique storyboard! No supplies needed – just bring yourself! Registration is required.

Cookbook Club | May 1 6:30 – 7:45 PM | Community Room
All Ages

Do you love to cook? Join our fun Cookbook Book Club! Each month we prepare a recipe or two from our featured cookbook and meet for a potluck and to share our thoughts. Copies of the featured cookbook will be available in the Reference Department. Please email vausten@berwynlibrary.org for more information.

Books & Brews (After Dark) | May 1 6:30 – 8 PM | Kinslahger Brewing Co.

Bring your TBR list – staff from the Berwyn Public Library and The Pile Bookstore will be sharing some of their book recommendations at a special edition of our popular Books & Brews program, hosted at night at Kinslahger Brewing Company! Share your favorite titles with other readers, find new books, and shop some books from Berwyn’s independent bookstore at this event.

Limited space is available and registration is required. This event will be held off-site at Kinslahger Brewing Company at 6806 Roosevelt Rd, Oak Park.

Local Authors’ Fair | May 3 10 AM – 2 PM | Library Grounds
All Ages

Join us for our 4th Annual Local Authors’ Fair! Local writers for all age groups and genres will be here to meet readers, share their work and experiences, and sell their books. Come find a new favorite and connect with authors and other readers. We’ll even have special storytimes by some of the authors in attendance!
