Berwyn Public Library offers a variety of ways that teens can volunteer. Teen volunteers should be currently enrolled in grades 9 - 12. Volunteers help improve the library and work together to bring creative projects to life.
To volunteer, fill out the application below. Applicants will receive a confirmation email from the library and instructions on how to begin volunteering.
Below the application are some of the remote and in-person volunteer opportunities for teens. Court-ordered volunteers with non-violent offenses can only volunteer for in-person service.
High School Volunteer Application
Opportunity #1 (In-Person)
Help with a library event by providing support for set-up, tabling during the event, and tear down. Teen volunteers will be notified by email about the upcoming events, or you can email berwynlibraryteens@gmail.com to inquire about this opportunity.
Opportunity #2 (In-Person / Virtual)
Write a review for a book, movie, or video game to be posted on our Teen Picks Board. Each review is worth 1 hour earned of volunteer service, with a limit of 5 hours per semester. Opportunity #3 (In-Person / Virtual)
Complete a series of activities to make “Bingo” and earn one hour of volunteer service, or complete each box on the sheet for five hours of volunteer service. Find Bingo sheet and instructions here.
Opportunity #6 (In-Person / Virtual)
Complete a template for a program or display for the Teen Room! Visit this link to access the template for either a program or a display and receive 1 volunteer hour for every template completed.
Opportunity #7 (In-Person / Virtual)
Learn more about race and anti-racism. Read or watch something from our Fighting Racism lists and write a review. Each book read plus review will be worth five hours of volunteer service and each movie watched plus review will be worth three hours of volunteer service, with a limit of 8 hours per semester. Opportunity #8 (In-Person / Virtual)
Contact your representatives! Even if you’re not old enough to vote, everyone is old enough to let their representatives know what they think. Visit this link for a list of your representatives with contact information and ideas for current issues to address. Please share a copy of your letter/or proof of your call in order to get service hours. Each letter or call is worth 1 hour earned of volunteer service, with a limit of 5 hours per semester.
