President Obama declares Cook County (including Berwyn) a major disaster area, eligible for federal aid.

On August 19, 2010 President Obama declared that a major disaster exists in the State of Illinois including Cook County and Berwyn respectively.  Furthermore, President Obama ordered federal aid to supplement recovery efforts of individuals struck by the severe storms and flooding between the period of July 22 and August 7 of 2010.

International Literacy Day is September 8.  Join us!

The Berwyn Public Library has been named an affilliate member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, and is now one of only six public libraries in Illinois to receive such certification!

A note about our site - March 11, 2009:

These pages were first put together in April 2008, and are constantly evolving.  Individual departments are responsible for their own pages, so the content of the entire site is a joint effort by multiple Berwyn Library staff members.

Many of these staff members had no prior experience putting together web pages, so this has been a rewarding challenge. As we approach the close of our first year with this new site, those of you who have been with us have probably noticed a lot of improvement in it, as we gain in ability and grow confidence in our newly acquired skills.

We're still working on it, and we have a lot of fun devising new ways to share information with you. If you have constructive suggestions, we'd appreciate hearing them.  Thank you for spending your time with us; we hope you find our pages worth reading for another year, and come to visit us - online and in person - often.
